Sophomores Can Apply for the Fall 2020 Student Climate Change Institute

The Howard County Conservancy and HCPSS welcome 10th grade students to apply for their free Student Climate Change Institute. In the six sessions, participating students will hear lectures from climate experts on topics exploring how climate change can impact public health, how environmental policy is made and more.
Schools Begin Collection and Distribution of Materials

Log In Now to Identify Need for Chromebook and/or Internet

As previously announced, through grants and additional funds, HCPSS is able to purchase a sufficient amount of devices necessary to eventually achieve a 1:1 student-to-device ratio for all students in grades pre-K through 12. Due to vendor delays, order fulfillment will not arrive as expected and HCPSS is adjusting its device distribution plan.
Hammond Middle Math ITL Recognized with Presidential Award

Hammond Middle School Mathematics Instructional Team Leader Stacie Marvin was recently recognized with a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). PAEMST is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12th grade science, technology, engineering, mathematics or computer science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. Marvin is one of only two awardees in the state among 107 honorees nationally.
HCPSS Announces 2020-2021 Fall Reopening Plan

The Howard County Board of Education approved the Howard County Public School System Reopening Plan for the 2020-2021 school year during its work session on August 6, 2020. HCPSS will submit its plan to the Maryland State Department of Education for approval prior to the MSDE August 14 deadline.

Reservoir Teacher Named Maryland’s 2020 Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year

Reservoir High School teacher Matthew Gresick was recently named the 2020 Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year for the State of Maryland. Gresick is the first HCPSS teacher to win this award.
