Sophomores Can Apply for the Fall 2020 Student Climate Change Institute

August 21st, 2020

The Howard County Conservancy and HCPSS welcome 10th grade students to apply for their free Student Climate Change Institute.

Sessions will take place online, 5:15-7:15 p.m.:

In the six sessions, participating students will hear lectures from climate experts on topics exploring how climate change can impact public health, how environmental policy is made and more. Participants will also work with experts and fellow students to consider solutions to global climate issues, and grow as ambassadors to form initiatives in schools and communities against climate change.

Three sophomore students per high school will be chosen to participate and must commit to attending all sessions. Students must complete and submit all portions of the application for their school by September 20:

The institute is presented in collaboration with Biohabitats, Ready Sense, Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve – MD, Howard County Office of Community Sustainability, University of Maryland Department of Entomology, Maryland League of Conservation Voters, Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the University of Maryland Extension.
