HCPSS School Counselors Named Maryland Counselors of the Year

Glenwood Middle School counselor Elizabeth O’Connor has been recognized as the Maryland School Counselor of the Year by the Maryland School Counselor Association (MCSA). In addition, Jill Hoffman, a counselor at Howard High School, has been named the Maryland High School Counselor of the Year.
Open Call for Leadership Volunteers for CAC, Apply by March 8, 2021

The HCPSS Board of Education’s Community Advisory Council (CAC) announces an open call for leadership volunteers to serve on the Executive Committee for the 2021-2022 school year. The CAC serves as liaison between the Board of Education (BOE) and the community at large, meets monthly during the school year, and reports directly to the BOE. The Executive Committee receives from the community concerns, information, and inquiries about matters within the province of the Board and researches issues as appropriate.
2021-2022 Kindergarten Registration Continues Online

Parents/guardians of children who will be five as of September 1, 2021, must enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year or request a waiver.
HCPSS Updates Guidelines on Spectators Attending 2020-2021 Athletic Contests

Effective 5 p.m. on Friday, March 12, student athletes in each sport will have two passes per game for spectators to attend both home and away games. This is a change from earlier guidelines that limited spectators at home games only.

Non-Instructional Video Streaming Websites No Longer Accessible on HCPSS Network/HCPSS-Issued Devices

Effective Monday, March 1, 2021, video streaming services will no longer be accessible on the HCPSS network or on HCPSS-issued devices. These services are not approved instructional technology sites and use of these sites has created network performance issues.
CHS Senior Selected to Represent Maryland in Senate Youth Program

CHS senior Christopher Lidard has been selected to represent Maryland during the 59th annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) Washington Week, to be held March 14-17. Lidard is one of only two high school students selected to serve as a Maryland delegate. Aditi Duttachowdhury, who attends River Hill High School, is one of two Maryland students designated as alternates.
