Non-Instructional Video Streaming Websites No Longer Accessible on HCPSS Network/HCPSS-Issued Devices

Effective Monday, March 1, 2021, video streaming services will no longer be accessible on the HCPSS network or on HCPSS-issued devices. These services are not approved instructional technology sites and use of these sites has created network performance issues.

CHS Senior Selected to Represent Maryland in Senate Youth Program

CHS senior Christopher Lidard has been selected to represent Maryland during the 59th annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) Washington Week, to be held March 14-17. Lidard is one of only two high school students selected to serve as a Maryland delegate. Aditi Duttachowdhury, who attends River Hill High School, is one of two Maryland students designated as alternates.

2021-2022 SMOB Election to be Held Online on May 5-7, 2021

The Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC) will hold its online general election for the 2021-2022 Student Member of the Board (SMOB) on May 3-5, 2021, with students voting on Canvas. The 2021-2022 SMOB candidates are Peter Banyas of Howard High School and Dhruvi Mirani of Glenelg High School.

Preparing for 2020-2021 Hybrid Instruction

On March 1, HCPSS will begin its transition to a hybrid instructional model. Families can find online important information regarding changes effective March 1 for all students, and details specific to those students returning in-person.

New Facilities Checklist Website Details School Readiness for Student Return

The Howard County Public School System is carefully preparing all school buildings for the upcoming transition to hybrid in-person and concurrent virtual learning. Every school building will undergo a walk-through inspection, based on an extensive School Readiness Checklist, which will be posted online at https://facilities-checklist.hcpss.org/

Changes to 2020-2021 Academic Calendar

February 12th, 2021

The Howard County Board of Education approved changes to the 2020-2021 academic year calendar. Thursday, February 25, and Friday, February 26 are now scheduled as 3-hour early dismissal days for students at all levels.

HCPSS & The Council of Elders 2021 Budget Basics Virtual Workshops

The Council of Elders and the Howard County Public School System have partnered to sponsor a three-part series, 2021 Budget Basics Virtual Workshops, to be held Feb. 20, March 20 and April 17.
