HCPSS Schools Honored as 2021 Maryland Green Schools

April 23rd, 2021

This year, two Howard County public schools became newly certified as Maryland Green Schools, and two were named Sustainable Schools by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE).

Mt. Hebron High School and Phelps Luck Elementary School earned their certification for the first time as Maryland Green Schools.

Deep Run and Forest Ridge elementary schools were named Sustainable Schools, meaning they have earned recertification four times.

HCPSS has a total of 49 schools that participate in the Maryland Green Schools program. The program provides educational opportunities for Pre-K-12 schools that promote responsible environmental stewardship practices and increase awareness of how our relationship with the environment ultimately impacts public health and society.

MAEOE and the Maryland Green School community will celebrate virtually in May and June to recognize awardees.
