Bach to Rock Partnership Supports Music Education
The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has partnered with Bach to Rock (B2R) to provide professional development for music staff and support school events. Under the terms of the agreement, B2R will provide professional development opportunities for HCPSS music staff.

Night of Honor Event to Recognize HCPSS Staff and Alumni, May 7, 2019
In partnership with the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS), the Bright Minds Foundation will host the 2019 Night of Honor to recognize outstanding HCPSS staff and alumni on Tuesday, May 7, from 6:30-9 p.m. Night of Honor will celebrate the Principal of the Year and Teachers of the Year, as well as the inaugural winners of the Work Hard Be Kind Award and the Work Hard Be Kind Outstanding Alumni Award.
HCPSS Students Named 2019 Carson Scholars
Twenty-four HCPSS students in Grades 4–11, who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and humanitarianism, have been named 2019 Carson Scholars. The scholars will be recognized at a regional awards banquet on Sunday, May 5, 2019.

Board of Education Adopts Requested FY20 Operating and Capital Budget, and FY21-25 Capital Improvement Program
The Howard County Board of Education on February 19, 2019, adopted its Operating Budget Request for the 2019–2020 school year totaling $972.7 million. The Board will submit its budget requests to Howard County Executive Calvin Ball in early March.
