March 14th, 2019

Wednesday, April 3, 6:30-8:15 p.m. – Wilde Lake High School, 5460 Trumpeter Road, Columbia

Parents, students, staff and community members are invited to participate in a forum on equitable and effective student discipline practices, hosted by the Howard County Public School System in partnership with The Council of Elders, NAACP of Howard County, and the Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee. The forum will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at Wilde Lake High School, 5460 Trumpeter Road in Columbia. Sign-in and networking begin at 6:15 p.m., followed by discussion from 6:30-8:15 p.m.

The annual forum, a direct follow-up to previous forums, provides an opportunity to continue community involvement and collaborative conversations around student discipline and HCPSS policies and practices. School system leaders and community partners will share progress and explain how the feedback provided during previous forums has influenced current HCPSS practices.

Additionally, participants will take part in facilitated discussions and provide input to inform HCPSS’ continued planning. There will also be an opportunity to engage with community partners and organizations.
