HCPSS Board of Education Honors Debbie Engle with 2019 Friends of Education Award

March 26th, 2019

The Howard County Board of Education recognized Debbie Engle with the Friends of Education Award at a reception on Thursday, April 11, immediately followed by an award presentation at the Board meeting.

Engle is an advocate for the achievement and well-being of all HCPSS students, having volunteered with the school system for more than 15 years. She helped develop the PALs preschool program for children with disabilities, and she has devoted much of her time to policy committees, the Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee, the Operating Budget Review Committee and more.

The Board also acknowledged nominees Trent Hall and the Howard County Autism Society for their contributions to the school system.

The Friends of Education Award was established in 2001 to salute exemplary volunteer contributions of time and talent that directly support academic achievement and safe learning environments for the HCPSS.

More information on the Friends of Education Award, including a link to a list of previous award winners, can be found on the HCPSS website.
