HCPSS Winners of 2019 Choose Civility Poster Contest Recognized

Each year, Choose Civility honors original art created by students that represents a specific civility theme. This year’s grand prize winner is Joshitha Sriperambudur, a fourth grader at Hanover Hills Elementary School.

Bach to Rock Partnership Supports Music Education

Night of Honor Event to Recognize HCPSS Staff and Alumni, May 7, 2019

In partnership with the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS), the Bright Minds Foundation will host the 2019 Night of Honor to recognize outstanding HCPSS staff and alumni on Tuesday, May 7, from 6:30-9 p.m. Night of Honor will celebrate the Principal of the Year and Teachers of the Year, as well as the inaugural winners of the Work Hard Be Kind Award and the Work Hard Be Kind Outstanding Alumni Award.

Update on the 2019-2020 School Calendar

Recent changes in state law allow greater flexibility to local Boards in establishing school calendars. HCPSS will maintain the previously announced student start date of September 3, 2019, a decision made in fairness to students, families and staff who have already scheduled summer plans.

HCPSS Congratulates 35 2018 National Board Certified Teachers

At the March 28, 2019 Board of Education meeting, HCPSS recognized 35 teachers who achieved certification in November 2018—21 first-time achievers and 14 who renewed their certification.
