The HCPSS 2020-2021 winter athletic season, scheduled to start on January 11, 2021, has been canceled due to the continuing high rates of COVID-19 infection in Howard County.
Oakland Mills HS AP Named MASSP Assistant Principal of the Year

Oakland Mills High School Assistant Principal Raymona Reid was recently named the 2021 High School Assistant Principal of the Year by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP). Reid, a Howard High School alumna, has worked for HCPSS for more than 20 years.

Start of Winter Athletics to Begin January 11, 2021

The winter athletic season, previously scheduled to start on January 4, 2021, is postponed until January 11, 2021. Virtual athletics sessions will continue and online registration for winter athletics will remain open via HCPSS Connect.
Nominations for Friends of Education Award Accepted Through February 8, 2021

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2021 Friends of Education Award. The award was established by the Howard County Board of Education to recognize and show appreciation to those individuals, businesses, non-profit groups, organizations, or associations who have made exemplary contributions to Howard County public education and to increase awareness of the importance of community involvement to the achievement of the school system’s Strategic Call to Action plan.

Clarksville MS Student’s Illustration Selected As Cover for New Children’s Book

Clarksville Middle School 8th grader Olivia Shim’s illustration was recently selected for the cover of the new book, “Step out of the Blues with Gabby’s Red Shoes” by author and teacher Carol Van Gorp.
Student Preferred Names Settings

Students may now log in to Synergy to request a preferred name that will replace their displayed name in Google and Canvas only. Requesting a preferred name does not impact students’ legal names in HCPSS systems.
