EPA Recognizes HCPSS Healthy Schools and IEQ Achievement

Green and healthy schools are a part of this year’s Earth Day celebration on Saturday, April 22. Nothing is more important to the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) than providing healthy schools for our students, staff and community. I am extremely pleased to share this letter from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizing our school system’s success and commitment to implementing best practices for maintaining good Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) in our buildings.

Howard County Food Bank Partnership Provides Food Assistance for HCPSS Families

The Howard County Community Action Council’s Howard County Food Bank is partnering with the Howard County Public School System to provide students and families with access to nonperishable foods. The partnership will be formalized with an official partnership signing on Wednesday, April 19, at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant in Columbia, Maryland.

Student Future Leaders to Attend Peer Leadership Conference

Over 500 Howard County Public School System elementary students will attend the 14th annual Peer Leadership Conference on Thursday, April 27, from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. at Columbia Presbyterian Church in Columbia.

HCPSS Response to National Recall of EpiPens

The Health Services staff are currently identifying any assigned epipens in the health rooms for the affected Lot numbers. Parents with the affected Epipens will be contacted for a replacement.

HCPSS Students Make Regional MESA Day Competition a Success

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) students excelled in the Maryland Mathematics Engineering and Science Achievement (MESA) program’s regional MESA Day competitions on March 24 at Johns Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory (JHU-APL) in Laurel.
