HCPSS is hosting a hiring fair to address current staff shortages in multiple areas. The event is open to individuals who are interested in the following areas of employment: Bus driver, Food and Nutrition Services, Lunch and Recess Monitor, Paraeducator, and Student Assistant No registration is needed to attend the event.
ABLE Accounts: A Financial Planning Tool for People with Disabilities and their Families, Nov. 17, 2021
Families of individuals with disabilities are invited to participate in an online workshop about the benefits of ABLE accounts and how they can be used to promote personal choice, independence and financial stability. Kelly Nelson from Maryland ABLE will share an overview of how ABLE accounts can help people with disabilities and their families to save and invest for the future without jeopardizing federal, state, and local benefits such as SSI and Medicaid.
Planning for Vaccinations for Eligible 5-11 Year-Olds
HCPSS is partnering with the Howard County Health Department to plan for anticipated upcoming COVID-19 vaccination opportunities for children ages 5-11.
In order to determine interest and possible numbers of vaccine doses needed locally, HCPSS is surveying families of students who may be eligible. This is for informational and planning purposes only; names/email addresses are not being collected. This is not a commitment or a guarantee of vaccination availability.

HCPSS has announced its 2021-22 performance and gallery schedule. Community members are welcomed to attend and enjoy a wide range of visual and performing arts at HCPSS elementary, middle and high schools throughout the academic year.

At this virtual event, Bailey Jackelen is a Senior Assistant Director of Admissions in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Johns Hopkins University., will present on the college search and selective admissions process.
Ninety-six HCPSS Students Named 2022 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced that 96 HCPSS students are semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships that will be offered next spring.
Recent Incidents at HCPSS Sporting Events
The following statement was issued to Howard County Public School System staff, students, families and community by HCPSS Superintendent Michael Martirano on October 13, 2021 regarding recent incidents at HCPSS sporting events.
Volunteer/Observer COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements
Effective Monday, Oct. 25, all volunteers and chaperones who interact with students, and parents/guardians who are conducting classroom observations will be required to use the PinPoint platform to show proof of full vaccination at least five school days in advance. The requirement also applies to students who volunteer or mentor at a different school during the school day, but not to students who go to the ARL or another school as part of their class schedule.
