HCPSS Hiring Fair, December 14, 2021

HCPSS is hosting an interview fair on Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 3-5 p.m. at the Applications and Research Laboratory for individuals who are interested in employment as teachers, nurses, counselors and speech-language pathologists for the current school year. Attendees must pre-register prior to the fair in order to interview either in-person or virtually. Walk-in participants are welcome between 3-4:30 p.m. and will be provided with information about the school system and steps to apply, but will not have the opportunity to interview on site.

HCPSS Seeks Members for Grading and Reporting Policy Advisory Committee, Apply by Dec. 13, 2021

HCPSS is currently seeking candidates for membership on the advisory committee for the revision of Policy 8020 Grading and Reporting: Middle and High School. Members of this committee attend 3-4 meetings to discuss and make policy recommendations to the Superintendent. Residents interested in participating may submit a statement of interest online by Monday, Dec. 13, 2021.

Mt. Hebron HS, Rotary Partnership Transforms MHHS Courtyard into Monarch Habitat

Mt. Hebron High School and the Ellicott City Rotary Club have teamed up to create a pollinator garden in one of the MHHS courtyards. The goal of the garden is to provide a habitat for monarch butterflies, whose population has been in decline.

Howard Community College Shadow Day, Dec. 1, 2021

Diploma-seeking high school seniors with IEPs or 504 plans are invited to attend an in-person visit to Howard Community College (HCC) on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Interested students should register online or contact the transition teacher at their school by Nov. 17.

School Psychologists: Supporting Student Success through Consultation, Counseling, and Assessment

HCPSS school psychologists play a critical role in supporting student success. They do so in a variety of ways , including consulting with staff about learning and behavior problems and helping to identify and implement strategies to address them; providing counseling services to help students address a particular issue and/or develop a particular skill; and administering formal examinations to determine a student’s skill level or aptitude in a given area.

First Baptist Church of Elkridge Provides Weekend Food Program for Students

Hanover Hills Elementary School (HHES) and Thomas Viaduct Middle School (TVMS) have partnered with First Baptist Church of Elkridge to provide students in need with food support during weekends and holidays. The partnership was formalized with an official partnership signing on Thursday, October 28.

Advanced Placement (AP) Updates for 2021-2022

The Advanced Placement (AP) program will offer in-person AP exams between May 2-13, 2022. The College Board does not intend to offer virtual exams this year. To take an AP exam, students must register for a College Board account and join their specific class in AP Classroom. Exam decisions must be made by Nov. 15.
