HVAC Apprenticeship Provides HCPSS Staff with a Unique Growth Opportunity

Through the HVAC Apprenticeship, HCPSS employees are able to apprentice with trained HCPSS HVAC technicians and complete the 8,000 hours of on-the-job training required to earn a state license.

HCPSS Receives Grant to Improve Outdoor Lighting Efficiency

HCPSS has been awarded nearly $60,000 through a new grant from the Maryland Energy Administration’s (MEA’s) Streetlight and Outdoor Lighting Efficiency (SOLE) Pilot program. The grant will be used to replace 155 exterior pole-mounted lighting fixtures with higher-efficiency LED lighting at four HCPSS schools.

HCPSS Seeks Members for Policy Advisory Committees by Sept. 12, 2022

HCPSS invites county residents to take an active role in developing and revising school system policies as members of Policy Advisory Committees. HCPSS is currently seeking candidates for membership on the following SY22-23 Policy Advisory Committees: Policy 1060 Bullying, Cyberbullying, Harassment, and Intimidation and Policy 8030 Graduation Requirements.

New ARTsite Sculpture on Display at Howard County Department of Education

A new sculpture is on display outside the Howard County Department of Education building. Titled “Angular Separation,” the 250-pound sculpture was created by artist Hanna Jubran and installed on July 25 as part of the Howard County Arts Council ARTsites annual public art exhibition.
