HCPSS Partners with Educational Systems Federal Credit Union to Promote Financial Literacy and Career Readiness

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has partnered with Educational Systems Federal Credit Union (Educational Systems FCU) to promote financial literacy and offer resources for students, families and staff. Under the terms of the partnership, Educational Systems FCU will offer a variety of financial literacy programs for students and families, support HCPSS career readiness and Title I programs, serve on the HCPSS Academy of Finance Advisory Board and participate in school activities such as back to school nights, mock interviews and reading events.

HCPSS Celebrates Latest Cohort to Complete Para-to-Teacher Pathway

Twenty-three HCPSS paraeducators have earned their undergraduate degree and certification in elementary education from Bowie State University, becoming the first undergraduate cohort and the second cohort over all to ever complete the HCPSS’ para-to-teacher program. They are now eligible to become full-time teachers in the county.

HCPSS Program Creates Path for Paraeducators to Become Teachers

Conditional Teaching: A Pathway to Becoming a Professional Teacher

Conditionally certified teachers are teachers who need to complete coursework and/or assessments to meet professional certification requirements. They are given two (and in some instances four) years within which to complete that work. If they successfully do so, they can transition from a conditional certificate to a professional certificate.
