Board of Education to Hold Regular Meeting, January 25, 2018

The Howard County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, January 25, at 4 p.m., with an evening session beginning at 7:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City.

Wilde Lake Middle School Earns LEED Premium Environmental Rating

The new Wilde Lake Middle School has achieved LEED Platinum status, the highest sustainable building certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. The Platinum rating confirms that the school is among the most energy-efficient school buildings in the country.

Board of Education Elects Chair and Vice-Chair

The Howard County Board of Education unanimously voted Cynthia Vaillancourt as Chairman and Mavis Ellis as the Vice Chairman at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. They will both serve one-year terms in these positions.

Howard County Named to AP District Honor Roll

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has been named to the 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll. HCPSS is one of 447 school districts in the U.S. and Canada, and one of only two Maryland districts, being honored by the College Board.
