Board Makes Decision on Selection and Acquisition of School Sites

January 5th, 2018

The Board of Education of Howard County met in closed session on January 3, 2018, to discuss school site selection. After careful consideration, the Board determined that the Mission Road property is not an appropriate site for a school due to the current conditions and characteristics of the property. The Board also considered the Rockburn property at the corner of Landing and Montgomery Roads and voted to withdraw interest in that property as a school site. The Board will continue to work with County government in selecting and acquiring a suitable school site in a priority funding area.

The Board voted in closed session in accordance with Policy 6000 – Site Selection and Acquisition. A copy of the Board’s communication to County Executive Allan H. Kittleman is attached.
