Board Selects Hanover Hills As Name For New Elementary School, Opening September 2018
January 12th, 2018
The Howard County Board of Education has selected Hanover Hills Elementary School as the name for the school system’s 42nd elementary school, scheduled to open in Fall 2018. The Board voted during their regularly scheduled meeting on January 11, 2018.
All Howard County public schools are named for geographic terms related to areas of the county served, per Board Policy 6050 Naming and Renaming Schools. The School Naming/Renaming Committee considered the geographical features and history of the area and reviewed suggestions submitted by students, staff and community members in preparing its recommendation for Board approval. Hanover Hills Elementary School was the committee’s first choice.
Hanover Hills Elementary School is scheduled to open in Hanover adjacent to Thomas Viaduct Middle School for the 2018–19 school year. Troy Todd, currently principal at Running Brook Elementary School, has been named the principal of Hanover Hills Elementary School.
