BSAP Saturday Math Academy Virtual Spring 2022 Program – Registration Opens Jan. 8, 2022

The BSAP Saturday Math Academy will offer a virtual enrichment program for Howard County Public School System students in all levels of math for grades 3-12. Online registration via HCPSS Connect on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 9:00 a.m.- until capacity is reached. Class space is limited.

Folly Quarter MS Cafeteria Manager Nominated as a “School Meals Hero”

Students at Folly Quarter Middle School (FQMS) have nominated FQMS Cafeteria Manager Dahlia Minor to be recognized as a “School Meals Hero” by the American Dairy Association North East. The honor celebrates the difference that school food service workers make in students’ lives.

HCPSS Seeks Members for Instructional Technology and Library Media Advisory Board, by Dec. 21, 2021

HCPSS is currently seeking Howard County parents/guardians, community members and staff interested in joining the Instructional Technology and Library Media Advisory Board. Advisory committee members share their expertise and exchange ideas to advise, support, and advocate for the continuous improvement of the instructional technology and library media program and support students in becoming college and career-ready.

Grading Changes for the 2021-2022 School Year

On Dec. 7, 2021, the Howard County Board of Education approved revisions to grading policies that adjust the weight of midterm and final exams in determining final high school course grades for the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, the Board determined that students at all levels who must quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure or possible exposure, but who are able to otherwise participate in instruction will have the number of days equal to the number of days in quarantine to complete the makeup work.

High School Advanced Research Program Information Night, Jan. 12, 2022

Parents/guardians of, and students in grades 8-11 are invited to attend a virtual information session on the HCPSS Advanced Research Program, which includes the high school Gifted and Talented Independent Research and Intern/Mentor courses. Register online in advance of the event.

BSAP College and Career Opportunities Webinar Series

HCPSS’ Black Student Achievement Program is hosting a College and Career Opportunities webinar series for students in grades 8-12 and their families. The theme of the four-part series is “It’s Never Too Early to Dream Big.” Students and families will explore career pathways, and discuss opportunities and resources available through HCPSS Career and Technical Education. They will also learn about courses, internships, projects, apprenticeships for high school and beyond.

HCPSS Class of 2022 Graduation Window, May 19-June 3, 2022

Howard County Public School System has confirmed the window for the 2022 high school graduations as Thursday, May 19 – Friday, June 3, 2022. No ceremonies will be held on weekends or on the May 30 Memorial Day holiday.
