Silhouette Stages Partners with HCPSS
HCPSS has partnered with Silhouette Stages to promote a creative and inclusive environment for students. Under the terms of the partnership, Silhouette Stages will support HCPSS LGBTQIA+ initiatives by presenting a theatrical production at Slayton House in Columbia during HCPSS Pride Week that families and staff may attend, offering family engagement workshops and participating in the annual HCPSS Rainbow Conference.

HCPSS Partners with Educational Systems Federal Credit Union to Promote Financial Literacy and Career Readiness
The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has partnered with Educational Systems Federal Credit Union (Educational Systems FCU) to promote financial literacy and offer resources for students, families and staff. Under the terms of the partnership, Educational Systems FCU will offer a variety of financial literacy programs for students and families, support HCPSS career readiness and Title I programs, serve on the HCPSS Academy of Finance Advisory Board and participate in school activities such as back to school nights, mock interviews and reading events.

Board of Education Adopts FY24 Operating & Capital Budgets
On Thursday, May 25, 2023, the Howard County Board of Education adopted its Operating and Capital Budgets for the 2023–2024 school year (FY 2024). The General Fund Operating Budget totals $1.1 billion, an increase of $72.1 million over FY 2023 which represents a 7.0 percent budgeted increase.
HCPSS Celebrates Latest Cohort to Complete Para-to-Teacher Pathway
Twenty-three HCPSS paraeducators have earned their undergraduate degree and certification in elementary education from Bowie State University, becoming the first undergraduate cohort and the second cohort over all to ever complete the HCPSS’ para-to-teacher program. They are now eligible to become full-time teachers in the county.
