HCPSS Board Chair and Superintendent Respond to Hateful Incident

We want to address an incident that occured at Howard High School on Monday. A swastika and male genitalia were created in the snow on the field hockey field. This field is visible to cars driving by on Route 108, and was seen by students and staff arriving to school Tuesday morning. We commend principal Nick Novak and his team on acting quickly to remove the offensive symbols and working with the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) to identify the student involved.

HCPSS Named a 2019 Best Employer for Diversity by Forbes

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) was named one of America’s Best Employers for Diversity for 2019 by Forbes magazine. HCPSS is the top ranked school system and No. 60 overall on the national list of 500 employers.

Bright Minds Foundation Announces School Meals Funding Campaign to Support Families in Need

Bright Minds Foundation, the foundation of the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS), announced today the launch of an initiative to raise funds to eliminate outstanding school lunch balances.

HCPSS Supports for Families During Federal Government Shutdown

Howard County families who have lost pay due to the shutdown may immediately apply for the Free and Reduced-Priced Meals (FARMs) program and the HCPSS Food and Nutrition Office will determine their eligibility status within 24-48 hours. Families that would not ordinarily qualify for the FARMs program could be eligible for the remainder of the school year because of the current loss of income. Families that are adversely impacted, including those who do not receive FARMs assistance, will have the remainder of the school year to pay off any meal balances incurred during the government shutdown.

G/T Advisory Seeks Nominations for Educator Recognition, Due February 15, 2019

HCPSS and HCEA Announce 2-Year Tentative Agreement
