Update from the Superintendent on a Return to In-Person Instruction
Parent Decision on Instructional Preference for Remainder of 2020-2021 School Year

By Friday, February 5, parents/guardians must make a decision to send their child to school for 1-2 days per week and receive virtual instruction the remainder of the week, or to have their child remain fully virtual for the remainder of the school year.
Board of Education Approves Schedule for 2020-2021 Hybrid In-Person Model

At its work session January 26, 2021, the Howard County Board of Education approved a phased-in hybrid model for students to return to school in person. The approved model will bring students back to in-person instruction over the course of four phases beginning March 1, 2021. All students will have the option to continue receiving fully virtual instruction.

2020-2021 Quarter 3 Virtual Schedules Changes Reversed

At the Thursday, January 21 Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Michael J. Martirano reversed the earlier announcement regarding schedules for the third quarter of the 2020-2021 school year and announced that no changes are being made to student schedules at this time.
Update on In-Person, Small Group Programs, January 19, 2021

Based on the continued unfavorable COVID-19 rates in Howard County, HCPSS is postponing the next possible date for in-person programs to resume to Monday, February 8, 2021. Additionally, due to the elevated trend in health metrics, HCPSS will not be delivering the PSAT on January 26.
HCPSS Seeks Members for Secondary English Language Arts Textbook Advisory Committee

HCPSS is seeking Howard County teachers, community members, and students in grades 8-11 to serve on the Secondary English Language Arts Textbook Advisory Committee. Members of the committee meet to advise, support, and advocate for the continuous improvement of the Secondary Language Arts program.
Apply for Student Member of the Board of Education by February 4, 2021

Any current sophomore or junior who wishes to be considered for the Student Member of the Board of Education must submit a completed application by 4 p.m., Thursday, February 4.
