Howard County Board of Education Takes Action on 2018-19 School Start and Dismissal Times
The Howard County Board of Education approved changes to school start and dismissal times during its regularly scheduled meeting on February 23. Beginning with the start of the 2018–2019 school year, no Howard County public school will begin before 8 a.m. or later than 9:25 a.m. Howard County Public School System staff will prepare a detailed plan for implementing the new schedules, including specific start and end times for elementary, middle and high schools, transportation costs and other factors for Board consideration.
Howard County Public School System to Host Site Visits as Part of Regional Conference on Personalized Learning
The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) will host site visits at two schools during the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Conference on Personalized Learning, “Innovating Education For All Learners.”
Board Approved 2017-18 Academic Calendar
The 2017-2018 school year will begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, for students and on Thursday, August 24, 2017, for teachers.
National Association of School Business Officials Honors Howard County Public School System with Meritorious Budget Award

OECD Representative to Meet with Howard County Public School Leaders
Tue Halgreen, an analyst with the international Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), will visit the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) on Tuesday, February 21, to share experiences and insights with school system leaders regarding use of the OECD Test for Schools.

Education and the Economy to be Discussed at Bright Minds Foundation Event, Feb. 9
