Howard County Board of Education Names Interim Superintendent
The Howard County Board of Education unanimously approved the appointment of Michael J. Martirano, Ed.D. as interim superintendent of the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) tonight during its regular monthly meeting.
Students Get a College Head Start Before Graduating High School
The first cohort of students in the Early College Program, a unique partnership program between Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) and Howard Community College (HCC), will graduate high school in the coming weeks with up to 40 college credits. The students are part of the HCPSS Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) Early College Program in cybersecurity. The program celebrated the students and their accomplishments today, prior to students participating in their high school commencement ceremonies over the next few weeks.

HCPSS Students to Expand Park Species List at 2017 BioBlitz
Howard County middle school students are expanding an ever-increasing park species list for the Belmont Manor and Historic Park in Elkridge, Maryland. The BioBlitz program, offered in partnership with the Howard County Conservancy, links to HCPSS science, technology, engineering and math curriculum programs by using comprehensive GPS and mapping applications.
