HCPSS to Host Unheard Perspectives Showcase Feb. 25, 2023

The HCPSS Elementary Social Studies Office, the Gifted and Talented Education Program, and the Student Access and Achievement Office will host its annual Countywide Unheard Perspectives Showcase on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hammond Middle School. The event is the culmination of weeks of research by third, fourth, and fifth grade students about innovators whose voices have been underrepresented in American history.

Apprenticeship Maryland Academy Info Session, March 7, 2023

Current 11th grade students and their parents/guardians are invited to attend an in-person information session on the HCPSS Apprenticeship Maryland Academy, Tuesday, March 7th at 6:00 pm. The event will be held at the HCPSS Applications and Research Laboratory, 10920 Clarksville Pike, Ellicott City.

Howard County Dance Festival, Jan. 28, 2023

Howard County Public School System will host the 2023 Howard County Dance Festival on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 3 p.m. at Atholton High School. The event will feature performances by all 12 HCPSS high school dance companies and the 2022-2023 All-County Dance Performance Ensemble.

The Council of Elders of the Black Community in Howard County (TCOE) in collaboration with HCPSS will host a TCOE Community Academy on Saturday, January 28th, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM.

“Get to Know HCPSS” Virtual Teacher Recruitment Event, Jan. 26. 2023

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) will host a virtual teacher recruitment event on Thursday, Jan. 26 from 5-6:30 p.m. The event, “Get to Know HCPSS,” will provide attendees the opportunity to virtually meet with current teachers and leaders in HCPSS and learn what it is like to teach in a school system that values diversity, equity, academic success and social emotional well-being.

Black Student Achievement Program Saturday Math Academy Spring 2023 Program

The HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program (BSAP) Saturday Math Academy (SMA) will offer an in-person enrichment program for Howard County Public School System students in all levels of math for grades 3 through 12 based on course availability. Registration will take place online Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 9:00 a.m.- until capacity is reached. Class space is limited.

Board of Education to Hold Coffee & Conversation Jan. 7, 2023

The next Board of Education Coffee & Conversation is scheduled for Jan. 7 at Mayfield Woods Middle School (7950 Red Barn Way, Elkridge, MD 21075) from 9:30-11 a.m. The event will be in person.

Road to Kindergarten Workshops Begin Jan. 19, 2023

Do you have a child who will be 5 years old by September 1, 2023? Please save the date and join us for an upcoming Road to Kindergarten parent workshop. All sessions are 6:30-7:30; choose a session that is convenient for you.

High School Advanced Research Program Information Night, Jan. 5, 2023

Parents/guardians of, and students in grades 8-11 are invited to attend a virtual information session on the HCPSS Advanced Research Program, which includes the high school Gifted and Talented Independent Research and Intern/Mentor courses.

BSAP College and Career Opportunities Night, Oct. 27

The Howard County Public School System’s Black Student Achievement Program (BSAP) invites all students in grades 8-12 and their families to attend the upcoming BSAP College and Career Opportunities Night. Students will learn about HCPSS pathways, network with working professionals, and explore post-secondary opportunities. The evening will highlight nearby colleges and universities, as well as local businesses within the Howard County area.
