Information on Measles in Surrounding Areas

Please be advised that the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is investigating potential measles exposures in Prince George’s County and the District of Columbia. The potential exposures took place between May 9-13 and were confined to specific locations. There have been no reported exposures within Howard County. 

Out of an abundance of caution, we are reviewing our response plans and have discussed the issue with both state and local public health authorities. While most individuals in the United States are vaccinated against measles, exposure does pose potential risk to those who have not been vaccinated. If you are unvaccinated for measles or are unsure of your vaccination status, please contact your health care provider.
