Hammond HS Awarded 2025-2026 Sportsmanship Cup

Hammond High School was awarded Howard County Public School System’s Sportsmanship Cup for the 2025-2026 school year. The award is given to the school that demonstrates an outstanding commitment to fair play, ethical behavior, and integrity, models these qualities and positively influences the behavior of those around them.

The evaluation process for the Sportsmanship Award takes place at the conclusion of the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons, with high school Athletics and Activities Managers nominating three schools based on feedback from their respective coaching staffs. Points are assigned using a weighted system where a first-place selection earns five points, second-place earns three, and third-place earns one. The school that secures the highest cumulative point total across all three seasons is designated the overall winner. Additionally, since the 2023–24 school year, seasonal awards have been presented to recognize excellence throughout the academic calendar. The 2025-2026 seasonal awards were presented to Guilford Park High School (fall), Hammond High School winter), and Guilford Park / Hammond High School (tie, spring).
