Board of Education Elects Chair and Vice-Chair

The Howard County Board of Education unanimously voted Cynthia Vaillancourt as Chairman and Mavis Ellis as the Vice Chairman at tonight’s Board of Education meeting. They will both serve one-year terms in these positions.
Howard County Named to AP District Honor Roll

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has been named to the 8th Annual AP District Honor Roll. HCPSS is one of 447 school districts in the U.S. and Canada, and one of only two Maryland districts, being honored by the College Board.

HowGirlsCode Partnership Promotes Computer Science Education for Females

HowGirlsCode is partnering with the Howard County Public School System to promote female participation in computer science education. The partnership agreement will be formalized with an official partnership signing on Friday, December 1, at Bryant Woods Elementary School in Columbia.
Raymona Reid, Health/Physical Education Teacher, Hammond High School

Raymona Reid has known since she was in third grade at Swansfield Elementary that she wanted to be a Physical Education teacher. The Howard High School graduate has done just that, and for the last 17 years has been at Hammond High School. Reid motivates and mentors her students, focusing on the whole child and their total well-being.
JumpStart Online Application Open Now Through December 22, 2017
