UPDATE: Board of Education to Hold Virtual Meeting, March 26, 2020
Due to the public health emergency, the Board of Education Meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2020, at 4 p.m. will be held virtually and will be broadcast live on Verizon 42 and Comcast 95 and live streamed online for anyone interested in accessing and attending the meeting. The meeting will include a limited agenda, with no public forum.
March 12 Board of Education Meeting Postponed to 6 p.m.
The Howard County Board of Education Meeting, originally scheduled for 3 p.m. today, Thursday, March 12, has been rescheduled to begin at 6 p.m, and with a limited agenda. The Public Hearing on Policy 4030, School Activity Funds will be rescheduled to a later date.
Board of Education Adopts Requested FY 2021 Operating and Capital Budget, and FY 2022–26 Capital Improvement Program
The Howard County Board of Education on February 13, 2020, adopted its Operating and Capital Budget Requests for the 2020–2021 school year (Fiscal Year 2021), and Capital Improvement Program for FY 2022–26. The budget requests will be submitted to the Howard County Executive in early March.

The Howard County Board of Education will hold a Closed Session on Tuesday, January 14 immediately following the Budget Work Session.
Board of Education Closed Session Postponed Until January 8
The Howard County Board of Education Closed Session, originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 7 at 4 p.m., has been postponed due to inclement weather. The Closed Session meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 8 at 3 p.m.
Presentation of the Superintendent’s FY 2021 Budget Proposal Rescheduled to January 9, 2020
The presentation of the Superintendent’s Proposed FY 2021 Operating Budget, originally scheduled for December 17, 2019, will now occur during the January 9, 2020, Board of Education meeting.
Boundary Review Updates: Board Work Sessions Continue
The Board of Education continues to explore various options as they work toward a decision on boundary adjustments that may potentially impact communities in any of the 74 schools in our system for the 2020–2021 school year.
Board Takes Action to Reduce Health Fund Deficit
The Howard County Board of Education has approved a funds transfer to significantly reduce the cumulative deficit in the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) employee Health and Dental Fund. Subject to County Council approval, the decision will immediately transfer $15.2 million of the unassigned General Fund balance to reduce the current $39.2 million deficit to $24.0 million.
