Multilingual Parent Leadership Program Application Deadline Jan. 26, 2024
The newest cohort of HCPSS’ Multilingual Parent Leadership Program will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The six-week program is designed to help multilingual parents navigate the school system and develop the confidence to serve as advocates for their children. The program also provides training for multilingual parents to assume leadership roles in schools and the community.
HCPSS Seeks Vendors for Special Education and Early Intervention Resource Fair
The Howard County Public School System is now accepting vendor applications for the Special Education and Early Intervention Family Resource Fair to be held Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Cedar Lane School, 11630 Scaggsville Road, Fulton. Organizations and businesses that provide services or resources to support students receiving special education and early intervention services are invited to participate.
HCPSS Students Named Among Top Scholars in National STEM Competition
Centennial High School students William Gao and Ishani Ghosh, and River Hill High School’s Eric Tang have been named among the top 300 scholars in the nation in the recent Regeneron Science Talent Search, a national science research competition for high school seniors.

Guilford Park High School Launches Dance Program, Builds Community
Guilford Park High School launched its dance program this fall. Under the direction of Heather Haffey, participants in the new program performed together on stage for the first time in December. Their next performance is scheduled for the spring.

Therapy Dogs Bring Joy to All at Cedar Lane
Throughout the school year, students and staff at the Cedar Lane School (CLS) are visited by volunteers and dogs from Fidos for Freedom, a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that provides service dogs, hearing dogs and therapy dogs to people with a host of different needs. The visits enable CLS students to practice communication, mobility, and social interaction skills and provide a source of joy to students, staff, and Fidos volunteers alike.

“Girl Power” Program Builds Confidence, Friendships, and More
