Staying Healthy This School Year
September 18th, 2024
This letter reminds students and families of efforts to mitigate the transmission of communicable diseases. First and foremost, it is important for students and families to monitor symptoms and to stay home if their fever reaches 100 degrees or if other symptoms are present. More information related to communicable diseases, including the flu and cold, can be found online. Students are permitted to wear masks and carry hand sanitizer at school.
Additionally, the school system maintains highly efficient air systems in our buildings to maintain healthy air quality. This includes maximizing the number of air changes in rooms per hour, maintaining and replacing filters, and placing portable air filtration units in school health rooms and portable classrooms to circulate fresh air into those designated spaces.
School administrators and staff will provide necessary supports for students who are unable to attend school due to illness. Parents/guardians should reach out to their school administration if they require any assistance.
Thank you for your help in maintaining healthy learning and work environments in the Howard County Public School System.
