Wilde Lake High School Athletic and Activities Manager (AAM) Brandon Lauer has been named a Maryland State Athletic Director of the Year by the Maryland State Athletic Directors Association (MSADA). Lauer shares the designation with Heather Podosek, athletic director of Paint Branch High School in Montgomery County.

The award is presented to an athletic administrator who has significantly impacted students’ lives and used athletics to progress in the school and community’s social and cultural environments. Candidates must be MSADA members and have received the District Athletic Director of the Year Award within the past two years.

Lauer received the MSADA District 5 (Anne Arundel and Howard County) Athletic Director of the Year Award in 2021. He has served as AAM at WLHS since January 2023, prior to which he served in that role at River Hill High School for six years.

“Brandon is as solid as they come,” says Jack Davis, HCPSS’ Director of Athletics. “He is disciplined, committed, and has a genuine interest in all students succeeding.”

“Dr. Lauer is the exemplar for Athletics and Activities leadership, and he is incredibly deserving of this award. He creates a student-centered community wherever he goes, and we are so proud to see his dedication and skill recognized at the state level.”

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive the State Athletic Director of the Year award,” Lauer says.” I am grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many talented individuals, and I look forward to continuing our collective efforts to inspire and empower our student-athletes.”
