ARL Team Places Second in National Personal Finance Challenge

June 13th, 2022

For the second consecutive year, the Academy of Finance team from the HCPSS Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) ranked as first runner-up in this year’s National Personal Finance Challenge, organized by the Council for Economic Education. To reach the national competition, school teams had to first win state titles and then rise to the top in a semifinal competition in May.

Teams competing in the national challenge were presented with a case study involving a fictitious family scenario. The teams had to develop a plan in response to the scenario and present it to a panel of judges, who then ranked the team on personal finance content knowledge, teamwork and presentation skills.

The National Personal Finance Challenge is a nationwide competition that provides high school students the opportunity to build and demonstrate their knowledge of money management. Teams showcase their expertise in the concepts of earning income, spending, saving, investing, managing credit, and managing risk.
