March 15th, 2022

Sunday, May 15, 3-4:30 p.m., Jim Rouse Theatre, 5460 Trumpeter Rd, Columbia

HCPSS’ High School Gifted and Talented (G/T) Orchestra will perform with Emmy Award-winning string trio, Time for Three, at a concert May 15. The groups each will play separately and together. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online.

The High School G/T Orchestra is composed of students from HCPSS’ 12 high schools, selected via a rigorous audition process. One of Maryland’s premier youth orchestras, the HSGTO Orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Chicago’s The Midwest Clinic, and Baltimore’s Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.

The High School G/T Orchestra is directed by Benjamin Denne (Ellicott Mills Middle School School), Jay Kim (River Hill High School), Tim McKay (Howard Community College), and Colin O’Bryan (Reservoir High School).

Time for Three, featuring Charles Yang (violin), Nick Kendall (violin), and Ranaan Meyer (double bass), is known for its unique blend of eras, styles, and traditions of Western music.

This event is presented in partnership with the Columbia Festival of the Arts and the Downtown Columbia Arts and Culture Commission.
