Sleep in Heavenly Peace Partnership Provides Beds for Students

January 24th, 2020

Partnership signing.

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has partnered with the Howard County chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) to support basic bedding needs for students. The partnership was formalized with an official partnership signing on Thursday, January 23 at the Applications and Research Laboratory in Ellicott City, Maryland.

Under the terms of the agreement, SHP will coordinate with HCPSS Program Innovation and Student Well-Being staff to provide information to families on its bed program. SHP will provide free twin beds, mattresses and bedding for children who do not have a bed, as the non-profit organization’s funding allows.

HCPSS Executive Director of Program Innovation and Student Well-Being Caroline Walker joined Sleep in Heavenly Peace Howard County Chapter Co-President Chuck Scudder to sign the formal agreement at the January 23 event.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nonprofit organization made up of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering beds to children and families in need. Founded in Idaho in 2012, the organization now has local chapters across the United States.

The Howard County Public School System’s Partnerships Office has united schools with more than 1,000 businesses and community organizations to enhance the educational experience of Howard County students. Partnerships benefit schools, businesses and the entire community by leveraging the resources of all participants. Partners may commit human or financial resources or other support.
