ARL Teacher Wins $50,000 Prize for Excellence in Teaching Skilled Trade

Applications and Research Laboratory (ARL) Construction Management Teacher Robert P. Leiby was recently surprised with $50,000 for getting a second-place 2018 Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence. He is one of 15 second-place winners, and the only winner of the national award from Maryland.

The Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Prize for Teaching Excellence recognizes outstanding instruction in the skilled trades in U.S. public high schools. The second-place winners receive $50,000, with $15,000 to the individual teacher and $35,000 to the high school to support the winning skilled trades program.
