HCPSS Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
December 8th, 2014
HCPSS received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers of the United States and Canada (GFOA) in recognition of excellence in preparation and presentation of the HCPSS budget for the current fiscal year. According to GFOA officials, this distinction reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting the highest standards of budgeting. To earn the award, budget documents must meet stringent criteria for serving as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications device.
HCPSS Superintendent Renee A. Foose called the award high praise for the system’s commitment to sound financial practices.
“To be recognized among the top governmental agencies in North America for our budgeting processes is a true mark of distinction for our entire system,” she said. “I congratulate our budgeting team on its diligent work, and everyone who has a role in shaping our budgetary vision.”
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 18,000 government finance professionals. Its Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
This is the second award received in recent months to recognize HCPSS for strong practices in financial management. In October, the system received a Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO).
