River Hill High School student Mark Li has been elected to serve as the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Student Member of the Board (SMOB) for the 2026-2027 school year.

Li ran against Long Reach High School student Gavin Falcon in the April 29 election, which was conducted by the Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC) via Canvas and was open to all HCPSS middle and high school students.

Li emphasized accessibility, equity, and diversity in his campaign. He also identified eliminating mid-term and final exams, improving transportation, expanding mental health and athletic training support for students, and enhancing opportunities for student voices to be heard, among his many priorities.
