HCPSS Winners of 2019 Choose Civility Poster Contest Recognized

Each year, Choose Civility honors original art created by students that represents a specific civility theme. This year, Howard County students were invited to design a poster illustrating the theme, We Are All Welcome Here, to show how everyone is welcome in the school, neighborhood and entire community. The annual contest is presented in partnership with the Howard County Library System and the Columbia Association Art Center.
This year’s grand prize winner is Joshitha Sriperambudur, a fourth grader at Hanover Hills Elementary School. Joshitha was recognized at a reception at the Columbia Art Center on April 10.
First place winners in each grade level category are:
- Grades K–2 category: Navindu Talagala, first grade, Worthington Elementary
- Grades 3–5 category: Joshitha Sriperambudur, fourth grade, Hanover Hills Elementary School
- Grades 6–8 category: Raji Shah, seventh grade, Bonnie Branch Middle School
- Grades 9–12 category: Tiffany Jung, 11th grade, Marriotts Ridge High School
