HCPSS Congratulates 43 2017 National Board Certified Teachers

At the May 3 Board of Education meeting, the Howard County Public School System recognized 43 teachers who achieved certification in November 2017—32 first-time achievers and 11 who renewed their certification.

Board of Education to Hold Regular Meeting, May 17, 2018

The Howard County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, May 17, at 4 p.m., with an evening session beginning at 7:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City.
Centennial High School Wind Ensemble Chosen to Perform at 2018 International Conference

The Centennial High School Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference in Chicago from December 19–22. With over 17,000 attendees from around the world, the Midwest Clinic is the largest music conference of its kind.

HCPSS Celebrates 2018 Choose Civility Poster and Video Contest Winners

Each year, Choose Civility honors original art created by students that represents a specific civility theme. This year, Howard County students were invited to design a poster or short video illustrating the theme, “choose2Bkind,” about how kindness creates community.
HCPSS Schools Awarded 2018 Green School Certification

Eleven Howard County public schools have earned certification or recertification as Green Schools from the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education. The Green Schools will be recognized at the MAEOE 2018 Youth Summit on May 31 at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis.
Howard County Public Schools 2017-2018 School Year Extended to June 19

HCPSS will extend the 2017-2018 school year by two days to make up for inclement weather closings. The last day of school for students will now be Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
