HCPSS Seeks Citizen Members for Attendance Area Committee, Deadline April 28

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) invites citizens to take an active role in school attendance area adjustments (redistricting) and school boundary alternatives as a member of the Attendance Area Committee (AAC).

A New Vision For Science Education

Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) has adopted a new model for science education, aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), to develop scientifically literate citizens who are well prepared to pursue college and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.

“24” Math Challenge Tournament to be Held at Hollifield Station Elementary School

Students from nine elementary schools will participate in the Howard County Public School System’s first 24 Math Challenge Tournament on Friday, March 24, from 7–8:30 p.m. at Hollifield Station Elementary School in Ellicott City. Approximately 36 students in Grades 4 and 5, representing the top winners from each of the participating schools, will compete.

HCPSS Crisis Intervention Teams Earn National Recognition

The Howard County Public School System Crisis Intervention Teams have been recognized by the National Association for School Psychologists with its School Safety and Crisis Response Award.

City on a Hill Community Church Provides Support for Oakland Mills Middle School Families

Oakland Mills Middle School (OMMS) is partnering with City on a Hill Community Church to provide resources and support for students and families. The partnership will be formalized with an official partnership signing on Friday, March 24, at the Sheraton Columbia Waterside Restaurant in Columbia, Maryland.
