Board of Education Policy Committee to Meet, May 14, 2018

The Policy Committee of the Board of Education meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, May 14, has been rescheduled to Monday, May 21, at 4 p.m. The meeting will take place in Boardroom A at the Department of Education, 10910 Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City.

HCPSS and HCEA Announce Tentative 2-Year Agreement

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) and Howard County Education Association (HCEA) announced today, May 9, 2018, that they have reached a tentative agreement for the 2018–2019 school year with limited openers for the 2019–2020 school year. HCEA represents certificated and ESP employees who serve the system in a non-supervisory role.

HCPSS Congratulates 43 2017 National Board Certified Teachers

At the May 3 Board of Education meeting, the Howard County Public School System recognized 43 teachers who achieved certification in November 2017—32 first-time achievers and 11 who renewed their certification.

HCPSS Student Named Maryland State Winner in 2018 Doodle 4 Google Contest

Howard High School ninth-grader Rebecca McArthur has been named the Maryland state winner in the Grade 8–9 category of the Doodle 4 Google contest. The public can vote online for their favorite doodle from May 7–18

Board of Education to Hold Regular Meeting, May 17, 2018

The Howard County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, May 17, at 4 p.m., with an evening session beginning at 7:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City.

Centennial High School Wind Ensemble Chosen to Perform at 2018 International Conference

The Centennial High School Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference in Chicago from December 19–22. With over 17,000 attendees from around the world, the Midwest Clinic is the largest music conference of its kind.

The Board of Education’s Redistricting Committee will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15. The meeting will take place in Conference Room ML2 at the Department of Education, 10910 Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City, Maryland.

The Howard County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, for the Superintendent contract signing. The meeting will take place in the Boardroom at the Department of Education, 10910 Clarksville Pike in Ellicott City.
