Countywide Festival Brings Students and Staff Together to Explore Gospel Music

This year, HCPSS’ Terry Eberhardt and his colleagues organized the first-ever HCPSS Gospel Music Festival. Held in February, the event brought together interested students in 8th-12th grade and staff from across the county to learn about and perform gospel music.

HCPSS College Fair, April 11, 2024

HCPSS will host a college fair on Thursday, April 11 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Howard High School (8700 Old Annapolis Road, Ellicott City MD).

Bellows Springs ES Named a Purple Star School

Bellows Spring Elementary School (BSES) has been named a Purple Star School by the Maryland Department of Education. BSES is one of eight schools statewide to receive the inaugural distinction, which recognizes public schools that provide strong services and support for military-connected students and their families.

Volunteer Judges Sought for Simulated Congressional Hearings

The Howard County Public School System seeks community members to serve as judges in the annual Simulated Congressional Hearings (SCH), being held at elementary schools across the county from May 3 to June 6. The hearings, which focus on issues related to the Constitution, are the culmination of fifth grade students’ social studies instruction.
