Bollman Bridge (BBES) and West Friendship (WFES) elementary schools have been named Purple Star Schools by the Maryland State Department of Education in recognition of their strong services and support for students from military-connected families.
Forest Ridge ES Named a 2025 Maryland Green School
Forest Ridge Elementary School (FRES) has been named a 2025 Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE). The award signifies the school’s commitment to developing stewards of the earth and reducing its environmental impact.

HCPSS Food and Nutrition Services Survey Open Though May 15, 2025
HCPSS’ Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) team has launched a customer satisfaction survey designed to gather feedback from students, families and staff on the Food and Nutrition program at HCPSS. The survey is available online through May 15.
Expanded Bus Transportation for the 2025-2026 School Year

Expectations for June 6 Eid al-Adha in HCPSS Schools and Offices
When the 2025-2026 HCPSS School Year Calendar was developed and approved, it was believed that Eid al-Adha would be on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Since that time, representatives from the Howard County Muslim Council (HCMC) informed us that the date has been adjusted to be Friday, June 6, 2025. Currently, that date is a half day of school for students and Professional Work Day for staff.
