Film Festival Enables Students to Put Ideas Into Action

HCPSS middle school students from across the county gathered earlier this month for the 2024 Movies That Matter Film Festival. The event featured a selection of films made by students enrolled in the Gifted and Talented (G/T) instructional film seminar at their school.

Provide Feedback on HCPSS Inclement Weather Asynchronous Instruction Plan by May 24, 2024

As it has for the last several years, the Maryland State Department of Education will allow local school systems to use inclement weather days as asynchronous school days for the 2024-2025 school year. If approved by the Board of Education, HCPSS will repurpose up to three inclement weather days as asynchronous instruction days.

HCPSS Students Advance to National History Day Competition

Twenty-three Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) students will advance to nationals after placing in the Maryland History Day competition. The 2024 National Contest will be held in June at the University of Maryland, College Park.

2024-2025 Middle and High School Courses Available for Viewing, June 6-11, 2024

Courses for the 2024-2025 school year for current 5-11 grade students will be available to view in HCPSS Connect Synergy between 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6 and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11.

Pointers Run ES Celebrates Art Extravaganza Day

Pointers Run Elementary School recently hosted Art Extravaganza Day, a day-long event providing it students the opportunity to participate in art workshops developed and led by art students from Centennial and River Hill high schools.

HCPSS Students Selected to Perform with Honor Band of America

Earlier this year, three HCPSS students were selected to participate in the 2024 Honor Band of America. Sophomores Noah Peng (Marriotts Ridge High School/percussion) and Eli Krakower (Glenelg High School/euphonium), and junior Louis-Félix Gauthier (Wilde Lake High School/tuba) were among only 75 students nationwide chosen for the elite ensemble.
