Security Efforts for HCPSS Student Accounts

The following message was sent to HCPSS families on September 30, 2026:

This week, middle and high school staff will set aside time for, and assist students to change their HCPSS passwords, used to log in to HCPSS devices and online platforms, including Canvas, Google, etc. Previous passwords will no longer work and accounts signed in on personal devices will need to be re-signed into.

This effort is part of HCPSS’s ongoing work to strengthen the security of our systems and protect student accounts and information. Using strong, unique passwords is an important step in protecting student accounts and will help ensure HCPSS meets current security best practices.

We encourage families to remind students to keep their passwords private, not share them with friends or others, and not reuse them with other sites and services.

At this time, HCPSS is focusing on secondary students’ accounts. More information will be provided in the future regarding any necessary changes to elementary students’ account credentials.
