HCPSS Seeks Members for Standing Policy Advisory Committee by Aug. 21, 2026
June 16th, 2026
With the recent revision of Howard County Board of Education Policy 2020 Policy Development and Revision, the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Policy Office will move to a policy reader system. Previous multiple policy advisory committees now will be consolidated into one single-standing committee with a two-year commitment. This approach will help ensure continuity of work and allow committee members to become more familiar with the policy development process over time.
HCPSS is currently seeking general resident candidates to take an active role in developing and revising school system policies as a member of a Standing Policy Advisory Committee, beginning in the fall of 2026. Tentative committee meeting dates will be announced when available.
The following policies will be reviewed by the Standing Policy Advisory Committee during the 2026-2027 school year:
- Policy 4010 Donations
- Policy 4020 Fundraising by Schools and School-Sponsored Organizations
- Policy 7020 Nepotism
- Policy 7120 Selection of Coaches and Advisors of High School Extracurricular Activities
- Policy 8050 Teaching of Controversial Issues
Residents interested in participating should submit a statement of interest online by Friday, August 21. A confirmation email with additional details will be sent to those selected to participate.
The aforementioned and all current Board of Education policies are available online. Please contact the HCPSS Policy Office at policy@hcpss.org with any questions.
