HCPSS Family Empowerment Academy Supports Student Success, Sessions to Be Held March 2026

The Howard County Public School System’s (HCPSS) new Family Empowerment Academy, offered through HCPSS’ Black Student Achievement Program, is designed to equip parents and guardians with practical strategies, resources, and insights to support their children’s academic, social, and emotional success.
The academy will take place on four consecutive Saturdays (March 7-28) from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Howard County Department of Community Resources and Services (9830 Patuxent Woods Drive, Columbia). It will feature interactive learning experiences, guest speakers, and opportunities to connect with other HCPSS families.
Topics covered in the academy will include:
- HCPSS Leadership and Budget
- HCPSS Parent Concern Process
- Understanding the Special Education Process
- Student Social Emotional Well-Being
- College and Career Readiness
Registration is first-come, first-served and limited to 30 participants. Attendance is encouraged for all four sessions.
Language interpretation and childcare for elementary-aged children (grades pre-K to 5) will be provided.
