HCPSS Staff Member Arrest, Nov. 13, 2025

The Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) was informed that William Nelson, a paraeducator at Guilford Park High School, was charged by the Howard County Police Department with a third-degree sexual offense. He was placed on administrative leave and removed from access to students when HCPSS was informed of the accusation. This is an ongoing police investigation and there is no additional information to share at this time. The police press release may be found online.

This individual also worked at other locations in HCPSS, including as a substitute teacher at Long Reach High School (1 day on 11/18/24), Triadelphia Ridge Elementary School (1 day on 11/20/24), Laurel Woods Elementary School (81 days from 11/25/24-4/25/25), Burleigh Manor Middle School (21 days from 5/15/25-6/18/25), and Cedar Lane School (summer school).
