Forest Ridge ES Named a 2025 Maryland Green School
April 29th, 2025
Forest Ridge Elementary School (FRES) has been named a 2025 Maryland Green School by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (MAEOE). The award signifies the school’s commitment to developing stewards of the earth and reducing its environmental impact.
“Being named a Maryland Green School for the fifth time is a tremendous honor and a reflection of our entire Forest Ridge community’s commitment to environmental stewardship,” says FRES Principal Trish Lannon. “From our students’ enthusiasm for sustainable practices to our staff’s dedication to weaving environmental education into everyday learning, this recognition celebrates our shared belief that caring for the planet starts right here at school.”
HCPSS currently has 44 schools participating in the Maryland Green Schools program, which provides educational opportunities for preK-12 schools that promote responsible environmental stewardship practices and increase awareness of how our relationship with the environment ultimately impacts public health and society.
The 2025 Maryland Green Schools will be celebrated at the Annual Maryland Green Schools Youth Summit on May 29.
